SUN IN PISCES

So! At the time of writing, Aquarius season is moving to an end. I thought I would create this post to explore the meaning of the Sun in Pisces, and Piscean energy in general. It is a much misunderstood energy, both adulated and maligned. The truth is, as always, far more beautiful than those extremes.

Pisces: An overview.

The zodiac is, as we know, a wheel that comprises of twelve segments. Aries is the first, and Pisces is the last. This is where the cycle ends, and where it begins again. Pisces Suns are often seen as “old souls” for this very reason. These beings are somewhat tired. There’s a sense of having come to the end before it has really begun, and now it is time to sleep! Indeed, these individuals are famous for their napping.

The twelfth house is ruled by Pisces and this house comprises of all worlds that are and ever will be. In a vision, I was shown the twelfth house as being infinitely,

infinitely larger and more multi-dimensional than any of us can conceive of. The Piscean lives in other worlds as well as this one. This is the dreamer for whom our reality is not particularly important, for there is so much more potential in all the other dimensions that they have an intuitive sense of. Doubtless, many Pisceans visit these places in their dreams- and even the dreamless sleep itself is like a good death, a blissful escape into the infinite nothing which an old old soul would be glad to seek after many tired lifetimes on earth.

The dark side of Pisces energy

Herein can lie a problem. We are in this world, whether we like it or not. Pisces can, on the negative side of things, be escapist and ungrounded. Neptune and the twelfth house offer us a glimpse of heaven and the being that has caught a glimpse of these worlds will often catch themselves up in a lot of negative behaviours in order to get there. Television, pornography, drugs, alcohol and other illicit substances all fall under the auspices of Pisces, Neptune and the twelfth house.

There can also be a tendency to avoid the truth, distort it, or misinterpret it- at least the truth in a Mercurial sense. Mercury is in detriment in Pisces, and in Pisces Jupiter is in domicile as well as in Sagittarius. Small details do not matter here. They get in the way of the big picture that is preferred by many visionaries. However, this can lead to a troublesome tendency to ignore some pretty significant facts, in favour of a more comfortable ideal that isn’t exactly real. Pisces, and the Pisces Sun in particular, must guard against irresponsibility and a tendency to swim away from troubles and boring things like work. Pisces does like money (the fish can symbolise the exchange of cash going both ways), but in many cases they do not like to work for it! Or, if they do, the work itself can be an escape from the more confronting details of everyday reality. This is all well and good, but the Fish need to be aware that others will have to pick up the slack that they are too dreamy to carry.

Pisces energy: A summary.

That being said though, there are many ways in which one can be of benefit to the world! We do not all have to be lawyers, bank tellers or street sweepers. Artists, poets and even the homeless are of value in our society. All have something to give. Perhaps the Pisces Sun, more than anyone else, needs to be reminded of their value in a world in which it can feel like they do not belong. It is just that for personal and emotional security (which Pisces craves as much as any other water sign), the self does seek definition and purpose. When the mundane is ignored, all of this magical energy coming in from other worlds can dissappear back into those other worlds. The rest of us do not get to see, experience or enjoy it. I’m reminded of Buddha who had to be persuaded by the gods to share his message to the rest of the world, as he would have preferred to stay in meditation- but the gods did say that we did need it. Therefore, Buddha picked up his begging bowl and came back amongst us all, putting up with the everyday- in order to serve and to teach.

One thing I will add as a bit of a funny mention: Pisces individuals often have a thing for shoes. This sign rules the feet. Either they cannot bear to get rid of their old worn-out shoes or they have a heck of a shoe collection. Or, their feet may be particularly pungent. In any case, if you have a Pisces sweetie, I am sure he or she will probably appreciate a good foot rub- as long as you are adept in the art!

Pisces Season itself:

As for Pisces season itself! This time of year does bring with it endings and beginnings. The tendency is to feel a bit exhausted (it is the end of winter for most people, after all, and times are hard!) and to let down one’s guard. Surely, this isn’t always a bad thing. But you must keep your antennae sharp for people that don’t mean well. Neptune delusions might come in thick and fast at this time and that always brings with it an unpleasant shock. Guard against that Piscean tendency to ignore the facts in favour of a dream would be my advice. Or dream, but do not build a house on sand!

Think about what your escapism means to you. We all do need an escape. Maybe use this time to look at ways of escaping that will serve you the best, personally. Sleep habits might need some revamping- or it could be a good time to look into lucid dreaming or even astral travel (but be sure to practice this safely!). Sleep is an excellent method through which we can access wisdom from these other dimensions that can be helpful to us in our day to day life. For, we do need a good sleep before we take on the bright new day that is the rebirth of Aries season!
