I come to you on a rather intense energy day to bring you the lowdown on what is going on…
Many of you, like me, might be feeling quite strung out and nervous- which is a usual effect of the Moon in Gemini (which is the Moon we have currently, approaching the Full Moon in Leo). There might be a lot of intense communication going down, especially as we are beginning to lead up Mercury RX in less than a week. Pick your battles! Mars is square Jupiter, which calls us to be wise… lest we be spectacularly unwise and get a bit of a bloody nose! It is still quite close to Uranus as well, so be cautious of internet fukkery and unexpected temper tantrums. Money might still be a concern, with Venus trine to Neptune- financial losses are possible but it is possible to recoup as long as we put our faith in what is truly of value.
As for the Sun-Saturn conjunction, this puts a burning focus on the Saturn-Uranus square that is slowly coming into being. This could be payback time for many of us, for good or for ill. Saturn not only rules our limitations but it rules our fears- our hidden darknesses. What have we neglected and demonised about ourselves and others, to our detriment?

When a planet transits the Sun or the Sun transits a planet, the planet in question has something of its power burned away by the flames of the Sun- except for when it is cazimi, at the very heart of the Sun- when both merge and share their power.
This is a time of a death and rebirth, a purification. For when the Sun comes clear of Saturn again, we will have lost something very deeply engrained and chained into our being- so that we might have a rebirth of Self on the other side of this pain.
For rebirth comes through soul-surgery, this burning-away of what no longer serves!
It might be hard at the moment to concentrate on one’s usual routines. Saturn rules boundaries and structures. I myself have found it almost impossible to meditate and to get any work done… but am pushing myself through. If you feel you definitely need a time out, I would absolutely heed that.
Be careful also of people spreading fear vibes and things like that. Here in New Zealand, word on the street is of another lockdown and people are quite upset. Just quietly prepare for what you think might be coming, but do not panic. Everything you truly need… is within you! I love you all, and believe in you all.
So! This is this one heck of an aspect, and we are in the gates of it now, at the time of writing (24.1.2021). February 2021 is, in general, looking to be a tense month astrologically speaking- but for now, I choose to focus on this particular aspect, which repeats in June and December this year. It will not occur again until 2043.
Please bear in mind that this is a slow-moving aspect, and will be more or less in effect throughout this year. 2021 all added up equals 5, and that means CHANGE- the brink! Fives in tarot, for example, are not easy to deal with. But we do need these moments to put us on the right track, and faith in the Divine helps us navigate them. I assure you that all is well and everyone is safe, but you will possibly not feel that way. Work on your connexion to Divine source and it will be easier to feel at peace.
Saturn and Uranus in square represent two collective forces in conflict. One is more to the surface of the psyche (Saturn), the other comes from deeper within (Uranus). To the individual, this will feel like upsetting changes beyond our control.
Saturn is the one who stands beyond Jupiter, and tells him that he cannot have his way forever- that endless expansion only leads to meaningless empty glut. With Saturn in Aquarius, the right to say and do as we please online (ruled by Aquarius) is being called more and more into question.
Uranus of course stands beyond Saturn, and asks us to look beyond, to make the new beginning from where we were forced to stop. With Uranus in Taurus, traditional norms and financial institutions, the things of enduring tangible value- are forced through a cataclysmic upheaval. A lot of people have become out of work and there are massive changes to the agricultural sectors. Certain platforms such as Facebook are cracking down, which leads Jupiterian types (like myself) to expand in a more disciplined manner- in a better direction!

As for the chart for the exact aspect, I note the Sun is in the final degree of Aquarius- which is a very weak place for the Sun. The Sun is of course in detriment in Aquarius, and the 29th degree is a place of stifled and worn-out energy. It is so plain to see that there are ego-driven cycles that are being called to end, that the identity is aching to be completely reborn.
The waxing Moon in Taurus will be conjunct Uranus in Taurus, adding to the intense, fixed energy of this aspect. The Moon will be applying towards the first quarter phase, representing a change in direction and an intensity of growth. What is called to occur NOW will have great ramifications for financial growth, if we can heed our intution!
Mercury will be retrograde and sailing amid Venus and Jupiter in the middle degrees of Aquarius. Communication will definitely be haywire, and I warn my readers against “big talk”- false and phoney promises, especially from politicians and media/ social media moguls. Long term and on the positive side, this calls for a reevaluation of how we view ourselves and how we connect to the rest of humankind.
This strong Uranus/Aquarius/Saturnian energy calls us to look beyond ourselves, and towards the world as a whole. It is no longer OK to do things simply because they suit us, but we are called to have an expansion of consciousness and to keep the collective in mind, with all that we do. I have noticed a lot of people saying “We, not Me”- which is the first crude utterings of a new awareness that must and will be born, but not before we have shed all those things that are no longer true and authentic to who we are.
We must have an awakening to ourselves and our own true nature, our own delicious balance of light and dark, before we can truly become co-creators. I don’t want to hear anyone talking about love and light without pain and darkness as well, as both are parts of nature. Uranus in Taurus wants us to hear the truth of the earth, not the sanitised and monetised version of the truth.
I have noted a lot of astrologers calling this an aspect of revolution, which to me does not stir far from the truth. However, there are so many different ways in which we can wage a revolution! We have been educated to think that revolution is an act of bloodshed on the streets by which we force greater political justice for ourselves, but that (to me) is only a tiny little part of the picture. For without a revolution of hearts and minds, without a revolution of the Spirit- there can be no meaningful change in people, and we just end up with the same old repression under a different name.
I urge all of you to follow your truth, but with discipline mindfulness and restraint. Don’t just go out and do whatever, but keep in mind the effects of your actions. Meditate every day, turn your backs on meaningless consumerism, and be kind to others. Research relentlessly and keep your wits about you. I believe in you all!
Saturn will be square Uranus exact on 18.2.2021 (NZ time) 🙂
All times are in New Zealand time 🙂

I am the daughter and the granddaughter of pilots.
Back in the day (I don’t know about now), they were taught to navigate the same way ancient seafearers were- by the stars. So I was very little when my dad taught me about how to differentiate between planets and stars in the night sky (planets don’t twinkle), and the names of various constellations. It began a life-long love affair with these mysterious elements.
When we begin to learn a magickal or esoteric art, we acquire most of our knowledge through meditation. We might focus on a sepiroth, a chakra, a Tarot card- or simply have the symbols around us so that we absorb much of their subtelties through our daily life.
However, if you want to learn astrology, the best thing you can do is get under the night sky and breathe the stars and planets into you like opium smoke. I will see you there, maybe on a sports field at midnight- or out in the mountains where they crowd so densely and shine so brightly that the mind is scrubbed clean for weeks…
(I am now crossposting my Facebook updates to this website, as Facebook has become insufferably draconian and has threatened to shut me down)
How is everyone doing? I myself am reeling a little bit after that tough message from Facebook- we would all do well to remember that Uranus and Saturn are within orb of squaring each other. The mayhem has started and Aquarius/Uranus energy rules social media. We are well and truly within the shadow phase of this RX period, so what goes down now might be seen as somewhat of a precursor…
But please let me remind you all that there is nothing to fear, nothing at all. The Green Lady has gone through her fair share of chaotic moments and painful losses in her life and if there is one thing that she knows, there is a greater scheme behind all of this. Have faith. If something goes wrong, it goes wrong- but there will be a reason behind it, if only we can let it go! And this is where our great opportunity lies in Aquarius season. Aquarius is all about the leveling up to a higher consciousness, which is only possible when we let our illusions around ego and control die the death that is offered them when we enter a bardo- our moment of grief, our world between the worlds.
So! Everything is fine! No need to worry too much about the retrograde. That being said- let’s look at what we might expect during the retrograde 😀
Mercury will be stationing RX right after the Full Moon in Leo on 30 January- and Uranus will be square Saturn with only one degree of orb. This is strong chaotic energy. Mercury will be separating from an opposition to the Moon in Virgo at a very wide orb (8 degrees). With the Sun conjunct Jupiter in the context of the rest of this astroweather, there is potential for us to get caught up in our anxieties of the moment. With Pluto conjunct Venus in the final degree of Capricorn, this is the time to use this extra anxious mental energy to look deeply into what it is we value, what we are hoping will endure past all of these changes. Mars conjunct Lilith might bring some repressed emotions out of the woodwork, perhaps some confronting secrets.
I do see a lot of illumination around this time, especially as Venus will have moved out of the sextile to Neptune by then. A shock to the system might be what is needed to bring some truths to light.
On the 10 February, Mars will square Mercury in retrograde. Mars will also square Venus and Jupiter, and the Sun. Moon and Saturn are in Aquarius as well, the Moon setting off the Saturn-Uranus square. Neptune is sextile Mars, taking some of the heat off the Martian aspects. Pluto is unaspected- some of the Martian elements might resurface in some pretty uncontrolled ways! Stay out of pointless social media engagements is my advice. Some people are even getting fired for following the wrong Twitter feeds. Aggression might not be overt, but it is certainly lurking beneath the surface. Remember the “frog in a pot” analogy- things get hotter and hotter, but the frog does not think to jump out because the increase in temperature is gradual!
On 13 Feb, Mercury will conjunct Venus, which will still be conjunct Jupiter. The Mars-Neptune sextile is exact, and the Moon is in Pisces. Mercury-Venus-Jupiter in this context looks to me like a softening of the energy that has gone on previously. Perhaps some kind words will come out of the woodwork to sweeten the pot, or turn up the temperature a little! Jupiter and Mercury are of course opposite energies to one another. We might be calling our personal values into question, motivated by finances or by a need to keep the peace.
Then of course on the 17 Feb we have the first exact Saturn-Uranus square, bringing tensions to a boiling point- but of course as this is a slow-moving aspect, this will have been in effect for some time. Saturn is of course in a sign of its rulership- but Uranus also rules Aquarius. An expansion of consciousness is in the offing, through tulmultous events that remind us of our responsibility to the collective. What is happening on a global scale and the increasing repressiveness of various internet spaces is calling many of us to awaken to our full potential that can only be realised when we lose our illusion that we do not matter! We do matter greatly, but what needs to go is the feeling that we need to hold on and control every last little bit of this ourselves… Uranus will teach all of us that that is impossible! I will be writing a more comprehensive article on this aspect soon.
On the 21st Feburary, Mercury will station direct. This takes place shortly after the first quarter moon in Gemini- the retrograde cycle beginning and ending with the Moon in Mercurial signs. Mercury at station sits between Jupiter and Saturn and square to Uranus. This might cause a restructuring/ requestioning of what we learned at the Great Conjunction back in December. Definitely, a shift in energy is indicated here- a change in thought patterns through what we have learned in these tough few months at the beginning of the year. Do we have enough faith to see us through, or must we dig deeper to find it?????
Of course, whenever a planet goes into retrograde that planet crosses over aspects it made in direct motion- and then will make them again, a total of three times- third time lucky! This, to me, is the chance to make things right in whatever way. Always keep a diary with astrological aspects written in it, so you can keep track of these patterns and make the most of them 🙂
This will be crossposted to Gab, on which I am greenlady85. I will of course be uploading to YouTube weekly… so check that out too! Many blessings, beautiful ones- I shall see you on the flipside of this retrograde 🙂
Have you ever met someone who just made you cringe through their crazy behaviour? Did you ever have a relationship with someone who knew exactly how to piss you off and make your feathers bristle, no matter what they did? Or did you ever have a connexion in which you formed a beautiful team, one of you acting as the brains and the other acting as the muscle? You might have run into Mars-Saturn in synastry!
This can be a difficult beast to tame in the hard aspects, but it isn’t insurmountable. Of course, it depends on a number of factors as to exactly what might go down.
=====
Many many moons ago I had a client who was just distraught because she believed that her therapist was her soulmate. She believed that he felt as attracted to her as she was to him. I’ve no idea how she had his time of birth, but she did. He had gotten annoyed with her when she started to pursue him and completely gapped it out of the country, leaving her devastated.
When I looked at the synastry, I of course noted the age gap (which really affects how people respond to Saturn) but I also noted her Mars almost exactly conjunct his Saturn. Despite the heavy attraction, which I could see was definitely mutual in this chart- he had strong boundaries with her. These showed themselves in regards to her sex impulse, her action impulse, her childish desire to force something into being. Saturn in this case came down on the situation like a ton of bricks, as of course it is meant to. It is not there just to thwart us, but to protect us as well! It would be a very bad therapist who would sleep with his client.
Mars-Saturn in synastry: conjunction, square and opposition
The hard aspects between Saturn and Mars in synastry can often mean sexual blockages/ problems with the couple. It can also represent a pair in which the older or more Saturnian individual feels challenged by Mars’ impulses. They do not enjoy their more unrestricted behaviour. The problem with this is, of course, that Mars can tend to get *angry* when challenged by Saturn. Mars doesn’t enjoy reminders of responsibilities and limitations. The war god likes to go out and do what he wants and he resents being behind castle walls, under siege- as it were.
The secret to dealing with this is to work on bringing out the best of whatever planet you are dealing with in yourself. If you are Saturn, view Mars’s challenges as an opportunity to explore your own perceived shortcomings, triggers, and limitations. There is a nice way to say “No” without being goaded into shouting it!
If you are Mars, the same thing applies. Also, let Saturn teach you that there is more to the art of war than simply charging into battle. A good warrior understands tactics. He or she also understands that it is sometimes necessary to lose a battle in order to win a war. Learn how to take a step back and think!
Mars-Saturn in synastry: the trine and sextile
With the harmonious aspects (sextile, trine) Saturn and Mars make a very good team. Saturn provides the structure and direction, and Mars provides oomph, gusto and inspiration. This aspect can still be somewhat of a downer for those who have not yet grown into their Mars or their Saturn energy. Saturn is tough on younger people in general. However, when you do have Saturn in synastry you are in it together for some time- so you have plenty of *time* to get used to one anothers energy, like it or not!
Saturn does demand that we work. It’s like the crow at at the dinnertable who reminds you that money doesn’t grow on trees and that if you want something, you have to earn it. This grates on us throughout life, but it is a wonderful energy to have on our side if we want to enjoy the good things, as well!

As we are fast approaching the Full Moon in Cancer, I thought I would take some time to analyse the late, great Janis Joplin’s birth chart- someone I enjoy not just for her music and her style, but for the pure soul she exudes even in death. For she was born with her Sun in Capricorn and her Moon in Cancer- not quite at the Full Moon itself, but with the moon applying to oppose the Sun. With the Moon as it is in domicile in Cancer, the Full Moon personality is still very apparent in her- the erratic artists’ nature, the psychic sensitivity, the great emotionality. Janis Joplin’s birth chart is just this: the Full Moon given voice.
Let’s have a look at this chart…
Right off the bat the huge amount of 12th house energy here is very clear. To some of my readers, this might not look like a *particularly* crowded 12th house, but those of you who follow my work know that I view the South Node in particular as a very dense form of energy, almost like a black hole.
Those planets which fall into our 12th house, if any, were put there by ourselves in childhood when we did not know what else to do with them, so to speak. If the individuality is not encouraged or is outright crushed and repressed, it gets squashed into that place. With Mercury, the child was not heard and her intelligence was not encouraged. With Venus, that which she finds of value is likewise not valued and she might be regarded as an ugly duckling- I do know that in her younger years, before she was famous, people were said to tease her for being an unattractive “pig”. She came from a very upright and religious background, which did not necessarily encourage anyone who was born different, born a rebel (Aquarius Rising).
What I also note is that these planets are all in Saturn-ruled signs, with the rising sign and the Sun sign likewise ruled by Saturn. The Moon, in stark contrast, is in a house ruled by the Sun and in its own sign. The father figure is repressive and at odds with the mother, who is nurturing but perhaps dogmatic and irresponsible. There is a terrible absence in regards to both parents- the Moon’s square to Neptune is an acute sense of inner loneliness that can only be assuaged by reckless fantasy. The twelfth house trine to Neptune, although out of sign, is a close orb and indicates a sense of self that can easily be dissolved by nefarious friends and love interests (Neptune is in the seventh house). Mercury trines Neptune as well- a wonderful placement for an artist, but not a great one for a steady and realistic thinker. The ruling planet (Saturn) trines Neptune as well- here is the chart of someone easily led, strangely enough- despite all the independent rebelliousness shown elsewhere in the chart! It is also the chart of someone who will definitely take solace in drugs and in dysfunctional relationships.
Leaving Neptune to one side for a minute, let’s look at Uranus conjunct Saturn in the third house, both of which trine that Capricorn Sun (out of sign, but still a trine). Uranus trine Sun is an aspect that denotes the eccentric, sometimes the genius- especially with Uranus at 0 degrees as it is. Saturn throws a damper on that combination, and its being in the third house with Uranus in the context of that Mercury trine Neptune and opposite Pluto makes me think of someone ADHD- maybe autistic- with a brilliant unique mind that could not and would not be accepted in 1940s-1950s Texas. It would not be accepted by her siblings either. Home, family and roots being what they are to the Moon in Cancer, even if Janis found fame and fortune and excitement elsewhere- would it ever be possible to paper over the pain of not being accepted and understood at home, in her own backyard?
Jupiter is retrograde and in exaltation in the fifth house. It is unaspected, unless you count a very wide opposition to the Sun. Unaspected planets tend to go a bit wild, and Jupiter in retrograde is unstable and forceful. The Leo-ruled fifth house here is also important in the context of her Leo north node. This is someone with an immense and soulful creativity, who channels excess emotional exuberance into works of art that push new boundaries. All that highly repressed twelfth house energy and that retrograde Mercury would come charging out here, on stage, in front of people- I could imagine she would go from stony silence to glorious diva in two seconds, with no warning in between. Jupiter RX can often be behind sudden leaps towards fame- this could be a key to her sudden stardom.
This brings us to all those oppositions to Pluto, which no doubt have drawn the attention of my readers. This is the placement of a hard worker (very Capricornian), someone who obsessively strives for perfection, to be good enough. All that energy that would otherwise be cowering away with her south node in the twelwth house is dragged out, kicking and screaming, to prove itself to the world and fulful the nodal mission. This is not someone who would miss practice with the band but would be on everyone’s case making sure they practice, so that the puny little minds of the audience could be blown and the childhood pain assuaged by a great big hit of glory and cocaine.
Chiron is in Leo, in the seventh house- very close to the descendant and to the North Node. The theme of life is pain and low self-worth, but when it is explored it is pain and low self worth that brings a lot of joy and a lot of healing to others. There was no luck in love for Janis, but she brought an incredible amount of joy to millions and millions of people- and will do so for millions more. Despite a sad death choked on blood, stomach contents and heroin in a hotel room at the age of 27- this was a life’s mission magnificently and beautifully fulfilled. Could it have been a karmic balancing of scales for her entire conservative family, locked away as they were in their little Texas town with no chance at fame or adventure outside their closeted religion? Could a star in the bloodline redress the karmic heaviness of hundreds of years of repression? Some say people with charts like this are advanced souls from other worlds that walk into overly solid Earth families to stir them up as an act of love, to liberate future generations of that blood- and I would not think that was far wrong in this case.
